External Students and Homeschoolers

Experimental and trial basis only.

We are exploring the concept of the 'Virtual Classroom' were computer connections are made with students at home by means video and audio technology. What we are hoping for is to provide tutorials and professional conferencing service with remote students and parents by means of the virtual classroom. We are looking for 3 to 5 homeschooling families that are willing to work with Logos Education Centre on this project in the future.

Home School

Logos Education Centre is also working in conjunction with Light Educational Ministries (LEM) in Canberra and therefore we would prefer to work with families that are using LEM programmes and materials. For Further information visit the LEM site www.lem.com.au

Homeschoolers and students studying courses by extensions are able receive instruction from Professional, Queensland Registered Christian Teachers. Therefore, the whole home school registration issue can be greatly simplified yet maintaining the flexibility of choice in your educational programme is ensured.

Curriculum advice can be given as requested by parents and diagnostic tests can be given to students to provide an independent monitor on students' progress in various areas of their education.

THE FOUNDER OF THIS MINISTRY

Richard Wilson, who has home schooled his children for three years, is commencing the Logos Education Centre. He is a Queensland Registered teacher and has had considerable experience as a teacher in Christian schools and was the Headmaster and founder of Covenant College in Canberra for many years. He is also the Minister of Covenant Presbyterian Church - Forest Lake. His vision for Logos Education Centre is to be both an outreach to the wider community and a support to Christian people and families. For further back ground information visit www.cpchurch.org.au

SUPPORTIVE ROLL

We do not wishing to super impose a system of curriculum upon families wishing to attend, because among other things, by law the educational providers in the homeschooling context is the family and the parents are the teachers. We only want to provide assistance that can be relied upon as being professional in character. Whatever curriculum you are using we will not seeking to change this as these are your choices to use such curriculum but we will seek to assist you in concepts that you are finding difficulty in mastering. So the tutoring sessions will be relatively informal, in that there will not be structured curriculum or driven by a particular teaching program.

REQUIREMENTS

The things that we need to insist on is that if students enrol for tutoring that is provided at Logos School, they will need to be in regular contact with students to keep up to date with progress and assessment.
